Ramaud Geoffrey is a photographer originally from France who’s passion lies in the BMX and core skate scene. With is first passion for BMX and photography as a close second, Ramaud Geoffrey doesn’t consider himself as an artist, but here at Blue Rapture we certainly love his style!
We caught up with Ramaud Geoffrey below…
I was born near the sea, in France in Royan, I grew up in a city not far named Saintes.
I always have my Grandpa’s old canon ae1 on me, every time I go out from my house I take it with me. I’m a massive fan of Vincent Perraud’s work, he’s always looking for the good light, it’s totally the same for me.
But for me photography is a history, I try to put the viewer into the action. allowing them feel affection, compassion, and all the feelings you have when you take the place of the person who’s in the picture. That is my quest.
I also take pictures of lifestyle and extremes sports, principally BMX, my other passion. Without the BMX community I think I would never have discovered my passion for photography.
My journey began when I bought my first Canon reflex, a basic Canon eos 550D, with that kind of camera, I learnt all the basics. Then my grandpa give me his old silver reflex. And that is when I feel in love
All the technicalities and set ups you have to think about before press down and listen the ” click ” of the camera taking your photo. Then the suspense when waiting to finish your film. Everything has to be thought about and pictured in your mind, thinking about the lighting and if you have made a good setup etc, before I even take the shot… all this stress you cannot have with the digital camera.
I do not think I’m an artist, but you do need skill to use the technology properly and the ability to think about the set up of the shot, and also patience. I prefer to be thought of as passionate for my hobby rather than an artist.
My passion show me the way, in the middle of May, I’m starting a job as park assistant in a big skatepark in UK “Adrenaline alley ” . I live for this passions; just falling into the unknown of a world that we apparently think we know, because we know whats there and how it works, but is the changes that are fascinating – the places, the people, the styles etc.
To have the same spirit as my other passion, BMX, to share to all and learn from all, no claim, no pretentious, just pleasure.
6 month’s of an unknown world is coming for me, 6 month of news, 6 month of pleasure. Enjoy everything you do.
