Hotel Interior Design Inspired by the Ocean – Tags: , ,

The Ocean's Calling

Here at Blue Rapture we love to find a unique boutique hotel when we are traveling around the world – especially one that is surf themed or inspired by the ocean.  It’s interesting to see other designers take on the subject, how they have been influenced by culture, how they combine use of colour, pattern and texture in their spaces and what ambiance this might produce.

Source and Supply for Hotel Interior Design

Blue Rapture works with hotels and other commercial establishments to source and supply interior décor and art features to create inspiring, vibrant spaces with a unique twist, always in spired by the ocean.  For these projects we do provide a trade discount, you can read more about our trade scheme here.

Meanwhile, we have compiled a list of our top 4 ocean inspired hotels by design, and thought we would share them with our readers…

The world is a big place, so we would also love to hear of places that you have found on your own travels, so please feel free to leave your comments below for us to enjoy!

Casa Surf Project, California, USA

A chance for you to get into bed with the big brands of the surf industry!  Pick a themed room designed by international brands such as Roxy, Billabong, Rip Curl or Quicksilver.

Based in Laguna Beach, California, each room is uniquely designed for each brand, with every little detail carefully considered – from the colour pallet and furniture used, to bedding design, accessories and feature ornaments around the room to give you that big name personality, but still oh so cosy, feel during your stay.

The White Palace, Crete, Greece

Inspired by the hippy blues of the Aegean Sea this hotel combines a blue colour pallet which compliments the traditional white décor that Greece is renowned for perfectly.

Simple white washed stone walls, with blue accessories and white shells create a simple yet elegant vibe throughout the hotel that keeps the ocean in the forefront.

We were lucky enough to stay in this hotel earlier this year and fell in love with the concept of this style.  Each piece of furniture, ornament or art feature was carefully curated.

We especially loved the table tops which used blue and shell mosaic designs supported with chrome frames keeping things modern yet simple.  The upholstered chairs were also beautiful combining a bespoke weave of mixed denim and white linens to create a nautical stripped bringing the blues of the ocean and the whites together perfectly.

No surfing can be found at this spot, but the calm Aegean Sea is the perfect place to hire a paddleboard and explore the Cretan coastline and sport a turtle or two!

Located in Montauk, New York, The Surf Lodge has become a hot spot for surfers and travellers alike, with the coastline famed for surf, fishing and art. The hotel boasts a relaxed bohemian style influenced by the ocean with the use of nautical accessories throughout.

The Surf lodge take pride in creating the perfect balance between ambiance and culture, with a line up of concerts, fitness classes and art residencies for their guests to enjoy.

We will definitely be hitting this spot up next time we are on the other side of the pond!

Watergate Bay Hotel, Cornwall, UK

The Watergate Bay Hotel is one that we visit every year due to it’s amazing dog friendly ‘Living Space’(Bar and Restaurant) with panoramic sea views – the perfect place to warm up after a long surf session!

The hotel combines modern, fresh design, with a nautical, shabby chic vibe – a perfect take on the traditional English seaside theme with a high end flair.
